Welcome to PP2C !

Reversible protein phosphorylation and dephosphorylation by protein kinases and protein phosphatases (PPs), respectively, are essential for the regulation of various biological processes in plants. Depending on substrate specificity, PPs are classified into three major categories: tyrosine phosphatases (PTPs), serine/threonine phosphatases (PSPs), and dual-specificity phosphatases (DSPTPs). Type 2C protein phosphatase (PP2C) is a kind of PSP which requires Mg2+ for its activity; therefore, PP2C also belongs to the PPM family. Plant PP2Cs are involved in various signaling cascades including phytohormone signaling networks like abscisic acid (ABA), salicylic acid (SA)-ABA crosstalk, and developmental processes like mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAPK) signaling, and CLAVATA (CLV) signaling pathway.
